Reports To: Technical Manager

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 based on experience

 

Summary Of Job: 

  • The role of the Technical Coach is to provide technical support, training instruction, guidance and information to the various departments within the business.  The Technical Coach will also aid the customers of Acclaim, should they require technical assistance.  The main aim of the Technical Coach is to obtain the relevant technical knowledge and transfer that knowledge and experience to the engineering team, through support, education, training and coaching. The objective is that the skillset and knowledge of our engineering team will increase, minimising the need for technical assistance and focusing on delivering new product and skill development training.

Responsibilities

  • Support, Educate, Train and Coach the engineer team with the aim of expanding their knowledge and experience to improve their efficiency and effectiveness, with the objective of minimising the need for technical assistance.
  • Create, (or amend current) product training presentations and deliver to the engineering team to increase their knowledge and skills, with the objective being to minimise the need for technical assistance.
  • Use the various training methods and mediums currently available, to develop the skillset of the engineering team reducing the need for technical intervention.
  • Explore new training methods, mediums and new technology that will assist with training and technical support e.g. online training, service walkthroughs, VR Assistance. Work with the Technical Manager to implement those that are commercially viable.
  • Create tools or processes to assess the engineering team and expose knowledge gaps for focused training. Use acquired knowledge to create training tools or sessions to improve skills.
  • Develop methods to measure the effectiveness of the training delivered and make changes as necessary to ensure best return of investment e.g. training assessments and work quality audits.
  • Act as remote assistance to engineers to assist in troubleshooting. Researching, diagnosing, troubleshooting and identifying solutions to resolve equipment issues, in the most cost-effective manner in a reasonable timescale to satisfy customer demands. To assist where required in identifying specific parts for repairs, but not in place of the mobile engineer’s responsibility to ID parts.
  • Provide on-the-job training and/or technical support, where appropriate to ensure suitable knowledge and skills are transferred.
  • Assess current work being undertaken to find developing, problematic jobs and intervene before they escalate into resource dumps which can be financially damaging.
  • Assist with incident investigations on site where specialist technical knowledge is required.
  • Assist with customer visits to promote best practices, in an effort to reduce/eliminate damage/downtime of equipment.
  • Become fully au-fait with all diagnostic equipment and transfer knowledge of how to use such equipment to the engineering team e.g. Jaltest, G-Scan, Curtis Controllers, neXXt.
  • Following standard procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues to the Manufacturer and/or to senior management.
  • Communicate any manufacturer updates, Technical Bulletins, toolbox talks etc to engineer team to make them aware of changes, potential fault diagnosis, current issues etc.
  • Carry out assessments and auditing on engineers and their work, to establish strengths and areas of improvement. Create Training plans for individual engineers based on findings and implement.
  • To support the Technical Manager in maintaining relationships at a technical level with OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and other specialist suppliers.
  • To support the Technical Manager in maintenance of the Acclaim Technical library made available to the business. This includes sourcing information where it is not otherwise available.
  • Any other duties, as required by the business, in line with business, market and customer factors.
