What it costs to hire a forklift
Six machines from our fleet, with the weekly rate they start at. All prices are ex VAT. Reach truck hire also starts at £100 a week.

Hire a machine for a single day and the minimum charge is one week at the weekly rate, so a one day hire and a five day hire cost the same. Beyond that the rate steps down as the period lengthens. Transport is charged separately.
What moves the price
Capacity and mast
A 2.5 tonne counterbalance is not priced like a 5 tonne machine or a triplex mast.
Power source
Electric machines need charging arrangements; diesel and LPG do not.
Length of hire
The weekly rate falls as the period extends, and monthly is cheaper again.
Delivery distance
Transport is charged separately, by the distance from the nearest of our depots.
Attachments
Clamps, rotators, jibs and any non-standard specification.
Notice
Planned hire is cheaper than a machine needed tomorrow.
Get a price for your job
Tell us what you are lifting, how heavy it is, how high it goes, whether the work is indoors or out, and how long you need the machine. That is usually enough to specify the truck, and we can normally price it on the call.
How hire works
From the phone call to a working machine
- Tell us the job. What you are lifting, how heavy, how high, indoors or out, and for how long.
- We confirm availability and price from the nearest depot holding the right machine.
- We deliver on our own transport, with the thorough examination certificate.
- You work. Servicing and breakdown cover are ours for the duration, and you can extend the hire if the job runs on.
- We collect when you are done, on a date you set.

Operators are your responsibility: anyone driving the machine needs to be trained and authorised for that type of truck. Training is not part of the hire, but we run RTITB accredited operator training matched to the machine, from counterbalance to reach truck.
If a hired machine stops
Our engineers, not a subcontractor
Call us and we send one of our own engineers out to it. If the truck does not work, you get your money back, and where we judge it necessary we supply a stand-in machine, so you carry on working instead of waiting on the repair. That applies to every type of equipment we hire.
- Office hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- Outside those hours the breakdown callout line runs 24/7.
- Every hire machine goes out with a current thorough examination.

Delivery and collection
Nationwide, from eight depots, on our own lorries
Machines go out from Purfleet, Kent, Reading, Portsmouth, Rugby, Norwich, Spalding and Liverpool, on our own transport rather than a haulier. Transport is charged separately and the fee depends on where you are.
If we have the machine you want and a driver is free, we can deliver the next day. When something has broken down, same day delivery is often possible.

Short term, long term or contract hire
How long do you need it for?
The honest dividing line is how long the work lasts and how certain you are about it.
Short term hire
A few days, a few weeks, or the length of one job. You pay more per week and buy flexibility.

Long term hire
Settled, predictable work that will still be there in two years. You commit and the weekly cost falls.

Most operations end up running a permanent core with short term machines around the edges. If a hire runs on and starts to look permanent, we will say so, because past a certain number of months a longer agreement or buying is usually cheaper.
