RTITB accredited training provider

Forklift training and operator training, accredited and nationally recognised

Forklift training is what we have done longest and what we do most. Our instructors take complete beginners through to certification, bring experienced operators back up to date, and add new truck types for people who already hold a certificate. Every course ends in full, nationally recognised certification, so you hold documented evidence of training and assessment for your own records.

Courses run at our RTITB accredited centres in Purfleet, Chatham and Cosham, or on your own site anywhere in the UK, on your own trucks and in the space your team actually works in. Our courses are approved by the joint committee of industry training boards and recognised by the HSE, the HSA and HSENI.

Operator, instructor and workplace training

Forklift operator training

The core of what we do. Fourteen equipment courses, each available as a novice, refresher or conversion route, so an entire team can be brought up to standard together rather than piecemeal.

All forklift operator courses

Train at our accredited centres, or on your own site

Our three RTITB accredited centres run scheduled courses throughout the year, and each centre's accreditation certificate is published on the course pages so you can check it for yourself.

  • Purfleet Essex, RM15 4YD
  • Chatham Kent
  • Cosham Portsmouth

We also train on customer sites anywhere in the UK. Operators learn on the trucks they use every day, in the aisles and loading areas they actually work in, and you lose far less time to travel.

Why trained and certificated operators matter

Lift trucks are among the most heavily regulated pieces of equipment on any site, and the responsibility for making sure the person driving one is competent sits with the employer. Certification is how that competence is evidenced: a course that ends in nationally recognised certification gives you a documented record of what each operator was trained on, when, and to what standard.

Refresher training keeps that record current, and conversion training covers you when an operator moves onto a truck type they were never assessed on. Both are far cheaper than the alternative.

Additional training we offer

Alongside the operator and instructor programmes, we run a small number of workplace courses that customers regularly ask us to deliver at the same time.

Forklift training questions

Is forklift training certification nationally recognised?

Yes. We are an RTITB accredited training provider and our courses end in full, nationally recognised certification, so you have documented evidence of training and assessment for your own records.

Do I need previous experience to take a forklift course?

No. Our novice courses are built for candidates with no previous experience. You are trained to drive and maintain the truck, look after the battery, stack pallets and work safely in the space around you, then assessed at the end.

What is the difference between a novice, refresher and conversion course?

A novice course takes a candidate with no previous experience through to certification. A refresher brings an already certified operator back up to date. A conversion adds a different type of truck for an operator who is already trained.

Where does forklift training take place?

You have two options. Training runs at our RTITB accredited centres in Purfleet, Chatham and Cosham, or our instructors come to your own site anywhere in the UK and train your operators on your own trucks, in the space they actually work in.

What do we need in place to host training at our own site?

Three things: the appropriate equipment, a designated training area with racking and bulk stacking facilities, and a suitable area for the theory part of the course. If you are not sure whether your site qualifies, our team will talk it through with you.

Which types of truck can you train operators on?

Fourteen equipment courses in total, from counterbalance and reach truck through to very narrow aisle, telehandler, cherry picker and order picker. Every one runs as a novice, refresher or conversion route.
