Used reach trucks for sale
The vast majority of Acclaim's used machines are ex-hire units we owned and maintained ourselves, so the service history is ours rather than a stranger's.
Before a used machine leaves us it is inspected thoroughly against our own standards and has to be signed off before it goes to a customer. We also refurbish machines to order. Tell us the standard you want it delivered in.
Every used machine is supplied with a current thorough examination certificate as standard.
Acclaim is the biggest independent supplier of used forklift trucks and MHE in the UK, and the longest-serving independent distributor of used forklifts and used warehouse equipment.
Reach truck hire
There is no minimum hire period. You can take a reach truck for a day if that is all you need. The minimum charge is one week at the weekly rate, so a one-day job and a five-day job cost the same. Beyond that, hire runs for as long as you want it.
Reach truck hire starts at £100 per week, ex VAT. Rates for individual models are on the listings above.
What happens if a hired machine stops working:
- If the truck does not work, you get your money back.
- We send an engineer out to fix it.
- If we judge it necessary, we put a stand-in machine on site.
We hire every machine type we supply, not just forklifts. Cleaning machines, sweepers and access equipment are all available on hire on the same basis.
New reach trucks and factory orders
Acclaim is an exclusive dealer and distributor for STILL and Hyundai. Both build reach trucks, and both are on this page. If the machine you want is not in stock we can place a factory order. That is what the New From Factory Order filter option is.
Finance is available on new and on used machines:
- Outright purchase
- Lease purchase
- Contract hire
- Operating lease
Finance is arranged through a third-party funder. Ask the sales team for terms on the machine you are looking at.
How to pick the right reach truck
Capacity at height, not capacity on paper
A reach truck's rated capacity is not what it will lift at the top of the mast. Residual capacity falls as the mast goes up. Quote us your heaviest pallet and the beam level it has to reach, not just the weight.
Lift height
Measure to the top beam you have to place on, then add the pallet and the load.
Closed height
The mast has to fit under the lowest thing in the building: a door header, a sprinkler main, a mezzanine soffit. Closed height is a filter on this page for that reason. A truck that clears your top beam but not your dock door is no use.
Mast type
The Mast Type filter on this page has four values: 2-Stage Limited Free Lift, Triple, Triplex and Full Free Lift. Full free lift lets the forks rise inside the mast before the mast itself extends, which is what you need when you are working under a low header or loading inside a container.
Aisle width
Send us the aisle dimension you actually have, measured rack face to rack face, with the pallet overhang counted in, and we will match a chassis to it.

Keeping it running once it is yours
- Thorough examinations. Acclaim is CFTS accredited, and that accreditation is current. One examination covers LOLER and PUWER together and produces one report, instead of two visits and two reports. Thorough examinations start from £135, ex VAT. We examine machines we did not supply, and we examine lifting accessories: slings, chains, forks and attachments.
- Servicing. From £90 ex VAT. Maintenance contracts come as comprehensive or planned maintenance.
- Parts. We stock parts for STILL, Hyundai and Lonking, among others.
- Batteries. Battery supply and regeneration.
- Fleet management.
There is a callout number, and an engineer can attend where we judge it necessary. Callout and travel are charged on top.
Reach truck operator training
Acclaim trains to RTITB standards with nine in-house instructors. Reach truck courses run as:
- Novice, in-house: delivered at your site or at Purfleet, Kent or Portsmouth. Certifies the operator for the site they trained on.
- Novice, national: 3 days for one candidate, 4 days for two, 5 days for three. Lets the operator work across sites.
- Refresher: 1 day for up to three candidates, normally taken every 3 years.
- Conversion: 1 day, one candidate, for drivers already ticketed on counterbalance or pivot steer.
From £360 + VAT per day.

Delivery and where we cover
We deliver nationwide. Transport is charged separately and the fee depends on where you are. We will not quote you a lead time here because it depends on what is available. Ask, and we will tell you what we can actually do on the machine you want.
We run eight depots: South East (head office, Rainham), East Anglia, East (Pinchbeck, Spalding), Midlands, West, Southern, Liverpool/North and South Coast.
We also move machines for third parties, including cleaning machines and access equipment, not just our own kit.
