MHFA Champions courses are training programs that teach individuals how to recognise and be aware of signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The goal of the course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge they need to provide initial support to someone who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge and guide them towards appropriate professional help. MHFA courses are typically led by trained instructors and cover topics such as depression, anxiety, psychosis, and addiction. Upon completion of the course, participants receive a certification recognising their training in mental health.
