Carpetright Case Study: Flooring and Forklifts

Flooring and Forklifts

Established in 1988, Carpetright is the UK’s largest retailer of carpets, floorings, and beds. From its first outlet in Canning Town, it has grown to operate in several countries, with more than 300 stores in the UK alone and an additional 120 stores across the Republic of Ireland, Holland, and Belgium.

The rise of Carpetright

Following the launch of Carpetright’s website in 2009, the organisation pursued ways to improve quality without impacting its customers’ pockets. The international retailer had just relocated its operations to a 50,000-square-foot site in Purfleet, allowing it to consolidate its office space, carpet cutting, and distribution facilities into one location. The transition to a larger space merged with its sudden boost online, meant that demand had increased at Carpetright.

Carpetright is committed to its core values:

CHOICE – We want to offer the best range of flooring under one roof
VALUE – We’ll always provide value for money and easy ways to pay
MAKE IT EASY – We’ll make it easy and hassle-free
EXPERTISE – We have experts who will create a great experience every step of the way

The Partnership: Acclaim Handling and Carpetright

The flooring giants sought a local materials-handling dealer that could provide equipment which matched its expectations.

Acclaim Handling, Purfleet’s leading materials handling dealership, established a long-term relationship with Carpetright that has prospered for over 14 years. Carpetright currently boasts 72 pieces of equipment from the partnership.

Acclaim’s comprehensive service goes beyond providing the equipment. It includes training sessions on how to use the trucks effectively for the staff. Additionally, Carpetright benefits from the presence of a dedicated team of Acclaim’s best in-house engineers at its warehouse to ensure that all machinery receives regular maintenance and servicing.

Acclaim supplies Carpetright with a wide range of materials handling equipment, including reach trucks, electric counterbalance forklifts, pedestrian pallet trucks, ride-on order pickers, access platforms, cleaning equipment, and various other types of machinery.

The marketing department at Acclaim Handling recently visited the site to capture the trucks in action as they were delivered to the warehouse.

The future of Forklifts and Flooring

The collaboration between Carpetright and Acclaim Handling exemplifies a successful partnership built on trust, reliability, and mutual growth. The seamless integration of advanced materials handling equipment and dedicated support services has significantly enhanced Carpetright’s operational efficiency. As both organisations continue to flourish, the values remain the same, with a commitment to delivering unparalleled service and innovation, ensuring that both can consistently meet and exceed the expectations of its customers. Going forward, this enduring partnership promises to drive continued success and set new benchmarks in the industry.
