Due to increased workload Acclaim Handling is recruiting forklift engineers across our 6 regional service centres in the UK. Our team is looking for a number of experienced forklift engineers that will work alongside our prestigious service departments in Essex, East Anglia, Lincolnshire, Midlands, Thames Valley and Kent.

In addition to working with products from leading forklift truck brands such as Still, Hyundai & Nissan our forklift engineers also maintain all other makes of forklift trucks which our customers own.

These positions entail working with the service manager and liaising with the service receptionists to service & repair forklift trucks for site-based customers.

Recruiting Forklift Engineers

Position requirements for carrying out onsite customer forklift truck repairs, see our careers page for details

  • Repair of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components
  • Repairing hydraulic valves and rams
  • Repairing final drive and gearbox components
  • Repairing engines and components
  • Inspecting and providing quotes to customers regarding repairs, in close liaison with the Service Manager

Position requirements for carrying out onsite customer forklift truck servicing:

  • Responsible for servicing gas, diesel and electric powered forklift trucks
  • Using a check sheet ensure the equipment is fully functional, and conforms to current legislation
  • Changing oil, filters, etc as necessary
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, such as lubricating checks etc on all equipment

Onsite customer overhaul of forklift trucks:

  • Responsible for completing partial or full strip-down of LP Gas, diesel or electric forklift trucks

Onsite Customer Battery Maintenance:

  • Check voltages and gravities of forklift trucks, using meters and hydrometers

Administraive Duties:

  • Responsible for completion of weekly timesheets
  • Completing electronic job sheets on a daily basis to record progress on repairs, parts used or required etc
  • Liaising with the service manager and parts department as necessary

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in electrical / mechanical engineering in heavy goods / plant machinery / automotive
  • Able to drive
  • Able to work unsupervised as required
  • Communicate and write in the English language
