Materials Handling Innovation

Built on over 30 years of forklift industry experience, Acclaim Handling has a history in providing materials handling innovation solutions.

Materials Handling Innovation – Vehicle Moving Equipment

A case in point is with The Met Police who operate vehicle pounds around London. Many of the vehicles they receive are non-runners and prior to the introduction of Acclaim and their materials handling provider they had only ever been able to transport the non-runners via older ‘stand-on’ vehicle movers.

While operating the older machines, the Met Police’s operators were enforced to spend many hours each day upright in rigid suspension. As a result many of the operators experienced back problems causing up to 50% of their operators having to take time off work for sick leave. In addition the Stand-up machine was not practical for use when it rained.

Acclaim Handling’s solution was to offer a new concept ‘sit-on’ machine, with full suspension seat, sideways seating position with a screen and wiper plus canvas sides which could be operated with best vision forward/reverse.

The final product is a reach truck chassis with a vehicle moving attachment which replaces the conventional mast. A telescopic reach is designed so the overall length of the machine is minimised to the size of the vehicle being moved. An articulating table is then attached to the telescopic reach that optimises not only the size of the vehicle but the overall turning circle so to maximise space within the vehicle compounds.

Working with one of our partners who completed the design and manufacture of a prototype machine, Acclaim Handling successfully completed a tender process proving the machine was fit for purpose. Today the Met police deploy seven of these machines across their London operations and they form the lifeblood of these operations.

If you have an application that requires materials handling innovation then Acclaim is your ideal partner to guide you to your required solution.
