What is an Electric Forklift?

Gas and Diesel forklifts were the stars of the show once upon a time. In a new climatising world, ensuring eco-friendliness and clean energy has become a priority. Because of this, an electric forklift is the new fan-favourite. Not only do they offer a greener approach, but they also have much safer indoor use and the functions you get with them are far more practical. Is going green the right move for your business, or should you be sticking with what you know with LPG and Diesel?

Firstly, What is an Electric Forklift?

An electric forklift is a type of forklift that are powered exclusively by electricity, as opposed to fossil fuels such as diesel, or gas-run forklifts. Electric forklifts are much quieter, do not emit any harmful gases into the environment, and are super powerful. These types of forklifts, however, are not so suitable for the outside, super heavy loads.

Who Would Benefit Most From Electric Forklifts?

Most industries and businesses would benefit from an electric forklift, some more than others. Here are a few of the industries in our opinion at Acclaim Handling:

Warehouses and Distribution

The majority of the time, warehouses operate indoors, which means emission-free and quiet zones are pretty much an essential. This creates a safer and healthier work environment for workers. Typically speaking, if it can sit comfortably on a pallet or warehouse racking, an electric forklift should be able to hold it.

Food and Beverage

With strict hygiene and air quality standards, having an emission-free forklift that does pretty much all of the heavy lifting makes this a no brainer. An added benefit is that there is reduced downtime with this, as it runs from an electric motor which powers up almost immediately and doesn’t need to warm up to work in cold environments.

Retail/ E-Commerce

E-Commerce businesses are bigger than ever, and their growth is not expected to slow down in the future. This means, the retail and e-commerce warehouses are run off their feet and are a very fast-paced environment, where a quiet and narrow electric forklift can work ideally. It also has very low operating costs, which means businesses with tight profit margins don’t have to worry.

Why Should We Promote Electric Forklifts?

Many industries have goals and aims to reduce their carbon footprint, and guess what? An electric forklift aligns perfectly with this goal. They have low running costs and maintaining them shows a massive difference in pricing as opposed to your typical LPG or Diesel forklift.
