Acclaim is 1st Independent forklift company in the UK to be accredited to Health & Safety OHSAS18001

We are delighted to announce that on 27th April 2012 Acclaim Handling Ltd was awarded OHSAS18001 accreditation via BSI. This is a major landmark in Acclaim’s history and we understand that we are the 1st Independent Forklift Truck company in the UK to have achieved such accreditation.
OHSAS18001 will complement our existing 9001 2008 quality management system that Acclaim has had in place for a number of years which is independently audited by BSI every six months.

Gaining this certification has involved a vast amount of hard work, time and dedication from our Group HSEQ Manager, Nick Griffiths and senior management to bring Acclaim Handling to a point where we were ready for a 3rd party to independently scrutinise our H&S policy and procedures in detail. Having first considered applying for 18001 accreditation in August 2008, the subsequent independent findings from BSI audits has enabled Acclaim to make several improvements to its H&S policy which may have been otherwise overlooked.

Previously our former Engineering Manager, Nick has been with Acclaim for almost 20 years. In that time he has seen Health & Safety has become more prevalent to our business as we have continued to grow. Nick comments “I have always been passionate about H&S and coming up from the shop floor I realise that it’s not always easy for our staff ,especially engineers to put H&S theory into practice. By adopting a pragmatic approach, listening to what the real issues are and working as a team we now ensure the job gets done safely, on time and within budget”.
