Flexi
The Flexi at a glance
A Flexi is an articulated electric forklift made by Narrow Aisle Ltd. Its chassis pivots through up to 230 degrees of steering, so the truck swings to face the rack and stores pallets in aisles from 1.6 metres wide, lifting to 15 metres. There is no guide rail or wire in the aisle. Front-wheel drive and outdoor-capable tyres let the same truck unload a trailer in the yard and put the pallet away inside.

Reading a Flexi name
The letters after the number give the chassis width: N is 1,000 mm, N+ 1,100 mm, S 1,200 mm, S+ 1,250 mm and W 1,350 mm. A Flexi 17N+, also called the 1100, is the Flexi 17 on the 1,100 mm chassis. Older AC trucks used the width as the name, as in the AC 1000/1100 and AC 1200/1250.

Generations in used stock
- Flexi EURO and G4: the earlier trucks. The EURO carries 1,700 kg at a 600 mm load centre on a 1,000 mm chassis. The G4 lifts up to 2,000 kg to over 12 metres.
- Flexi AC range: the AC 1000/1100 and 1200/1250; the AC HiLOAD at 2.5 tonnes; the AC HiMAX, with 1,750 kg to 5 metres; and the AC VNA at 1,350 kg on a 1.0 metre chassis.
- ACiON: the AC trucks with brushless digital motors.
- Digital range: Flexi 15VN, 17N, 20S (2,000 kg to 10.5 metres), MAX 22S+, 25W, and the StorMAX, which stores pallets two deep from a single aisle. Lithium-ion is an option, charging fully in one to two hours.
Jobs a Flexi does well
A Flexi unloads semi-trailers and ISO containers and then puts the pallets away in very narrow aisles. It also works drive-in and push-back racking, block stacks, and picks orders at low level. Flexi trucks have been built for continuous work at -28 °C.
Buying a used Flexi
The recommended service interval on Flexi AC trucks is 500 hours, and the service record shows whether it has been kept. The diagnostics display shows faults and battery discharge. Only three covers come off to reach the serviceable parts, and nothing sits under the battery, which makes a thorough inspection straightforward. Check the articulation joint and its slewing ring for play. Our engineers inspect each used Flexi before it is sold.
