Genie’s GS slab scissors are battery-electric scissor lifts for firm, level surfaces, indoors and out. They rise straight up with two or three people on a wide platform, run quietly with no exhaust, and are the everyday machine for construction, installation and maintenance work at height.

- GS-1330m: a micro scissor for low-level work in tight spaces, 5.90 m working height, 227 kg, two people indoors.
- GS-1930: an earlier model, 7.85 m working height, 227 kg.
- GS-1932: 7.64 m working height, 227 kg.
- GS-2632 and GS-2646: 9.85 m, carrying 227 kg or 454 kg.
- GS-3232 and GS-3246: 11.60 m, carrying 227 kg or 318 kg.
- GS-4046: 13.91 m, 318 kg.
- GS-4655: 15.95 m, 350 kg, for large sites with a lot of driving.
Those are indoor figures. Outdoors, the operator selects outdoor mode: the platform stops lower, fewer people may ride, and the wind limit is 12.5 m/s.

Reading the model number
The last two digits are the machine’s width in inches. A GS-1932 is 32 inches (0.81 m) wide and drives through most standard doors, while a GS-2646 is 46 inches (1.17 m) wide with a bigger platform and a higher capacity.
E-Drive and batteries
E-Drive is Genie’s AC electric drive. Brushless, sealed motors replace hydraulic drive, with 70% fewer hydraulic hoses and fittings. Earlier and some smaller GS machines used hydraulic drive. All run on a 24 V battery pack, flooded, AGM or lithium-ion, and climb a 25% slope stowed.
Checking a used scissor
Our engineers inspect every used scissor lift before sale. On a GS, the pothole guards must drop as the platform rises; if they don’t, an alarm sounds and the machine will not drive. Also check the scissor pins and fasteners, wear pads, tyres, battery pack and connections, platform controls and overload system. The batteries double as counterweight, so replacements must weigh at least as much as the originals. Capacities changed between generations, so go by the plate on the machine.

We are an authorised Genie dealer, supplying new GS scissors and servicing and examining them, including machines bought elsewhere. Scissor lifts are available on hire and lease; ask us which models are available now. We run scissor lift training at our centres and on customers’ sites.
