Which machine
Height first, then the ground
Tell us the height you need to reach and what the ground is like, and we will put the right machine on the job rather than the biggest one.
A scissor lift gives a bigger platform that carries more, but only goes straight up. If the work is above, around or over something, see cherry picker hire.
- Indoors, on finished floors, electric is normally the requirement: no exhaust, non-marking tyres, and quiet enough for an occupied building
- Outdoors, on rough or soft ground, a diesel or rough terrain machine stays usable
- Tell us about slope, ground bearing and any overhead obstructions

How scissor lift hire works

| Minimum hire period | None. A machine can be hired for a day. |

| Contract | None on a short term hire. Extend the hire if the job runs on. |
| Thorough examination | A scissor lift lifts people, so LOLER requires a thorough examination every six months, not twelve. Hire machines come with a current examination. |
| If a machine stops | You get your money back, and we send one of our own engineers out to it, not a subcontractor. Where we judge it necessary we supply a stand-in machine. |
| Delivery | Nationwide from eight depots. Transport is charged separately and the cost depends on where the machine is going. |
| Longer term | Lease purchase, contract hire or operating lease, on used machines as well as new. See leasing and contract hire. |
If a hire runs on and starts to look permanent, we will say so, because past a certain number of months a longer agreement or buying is usually cheaper.
