Pallet trucks, from walk-behind to ride-on
A pallet truck moves a loaded pallet across a floor. The forks slide into the pallet, lift the load clear of the ground, and the pallet rolls on wheels instead of being dragged or carried.
Powered pallet trucks come three ways: pedestrian machines you walk beside and steer from the tiller, platform machines you ride standing, and ride-on or stand-on trucks for long runs such as trailer loading. Manual pallet trucks are for hire too.

Pedestrian and ride-on pallet stackers
A pallet truck lifts a pallet just clear of the floor. A pallet stacker raises it to height, so it can go on a rack, on a mezzanine edge or on top of another pallet.

Which machine the job needs
Pallet truck or stacker
A pallet truck lifts the pallet clear of the floor. A pallet stacker raises it to height.
- Floor-to-floor moves: pallet truck
- Onto racking, a mezzanine edge or another pallet: stacker
- If any part of the job involves lifting up, you need a stacker
Walk, stand or ride
Distance and how often the pallets move decide it.
- Pedestrian: congested space and short, frequent moves
- Platform: medium runs, where getting on and off repeatedly wastes time
- Ride-on or stand-on: long travel, such as trailer loading and long-aisle replenishment

If a hire runs on and starts to look permanent, we will say so, because past a certain number of months a longer agreement or buying is usually cheaper.
