The S booms at a glance
Genie’s S booms are telescopic boom lifts: the boom extends in a straight line, giving long horizontal reach from a single set-up. The models on this page run from 15.56 m working height on the S-45 XC to 26.51 m on the S-80 J. All four are diesel, climb a 45% slope when stowed and are rated to work outdoors in winds up to 12.5 m/s.

XC or J
- S-45 XC and S-65 XC: Genie’s Xtra Capacity booms, with two ratings. They carry 300 kg with two people across the full working envelope, or 454 kg with three people in a restricted envelope that the machine controls automatically. The S-65 XC reaches 21.81 m up and 16.51 m out.
- S-60 J and S-80 J: a 1.83 m jib at the platform, 300 kg and two people. The S-80 J reaches 26.51 m up and 16.69 m out.
The S-45 XC, S-65 XC and S-80 J are also built as TraX machines, running on four rubber tracks instead of tyres. A 3 kW Lift Power generator option puts mains power at the platform for tools.

What they are used for
S booms work on construction and industrial sites and in maintenance, inspection and painting. The XC models take the heavier lift tasks on those sites.
Checking a used boom
Our engineers inspect every used boom before it is sold. Check the hydraulic hoses and cylinders, wear pads, tyres and wheels (or tracks, sprockets and idlers on TraX machines), the turntable and drive hubs, and welds and structure for cracks or heavy corrosion. The platform load sensing and the tilt alarm should both work. Ask us for the machine’s hours and service history.
Supply, hire and training
As an authorised Genie dealer we supply new S booms to order, and our engineers service and examine them. Boom lifts are available on hire and lease; ask us which models are available now. We run cherry picker training at our centres and on customers’ sites.
