The BT-9U at a glance
The BT-9U is Hyundai’s three-wheel electric counterbalance for 1,500 to 2,000 kg. Twin drive motors at the front and a pair of rear wheels set close together let it pivot almost on the spot: the 15BT-9U turns in a 1,540 mm radius. That is the point of a three-wheeler, and it is why these trucks work where a four-wheel truck of the same capacity runs out of room.

Three generations you will meet
- BT-9U, the latest generation: twin 5.4 kW drive motors, electric power steering, a 4.3 inch display and wet disc brakes. It runs on 48 V lead-acid, or on lithium-ion without modification.
- BT-9, the model before: twin 4.7 kW drive motors and hydraulic steering, at the same capacities.
- BT-7, the older AC truck, built for either 36 or 48 volts. Check which your chargers suit.
The first figures give the capacity: a 15BT-9U lifts 1,500 kg, an 18BT-9U 1,800 kg and a 20BT-9U 2,000 kg, at a 500 mm load centre.

Where it earns its keep
Loading trailers from a dock, working narrow racking aisles, feeding production lines inside a building. Travel speed is 16 km/h laden or empty, and lift heights run from about 3 metres to 7,040 mm on the tallest triplex mast.
Buying one used
Our stock mixes all three generations, so read the model plate as well as the listing. Our engineers inspect each truck before sale. Look at the battery and its connections, the rear wheels, which take the wear on a three-wheeler, and the display for stored error codes. Ask us for the hours and service history on the exact truck.
