Battery Care & Maintenance Training

This course is designed for candidates who have no experience of battery care and maintenance, and also a refresher for more experienced users. It will teach them all of the safety procedures for putting the relevant truck on and off charge and how to look after the battery.

  • Introduction to the course
  • Correct PPE– Eye protection / Gloves / Apron / Steel Toe Cap Shoes
  • Battery Care / Maintenance
  • Keep Battery Clean / Tidy
  • Electrical Connections Fixed and Free from Corrosion
  • Volts Per Cell Details
  • Top up procedure – Auto fill / Flip up lids. Only after a full charge
  • Top up only with Distilled water
  • Dangers of over or under filling Battery
  • Check Plugs on Charger and Fork Lift Truck
  • Well Ventilated area – Danger of Hydrogen Gas
  • Isolate Charger when on or off charge
  • Refrain from short charging – damage to battery
  • Make sure charger is working correctly
  • No Smoking / Naked Flames
  • Refrain from short charging – damage to battery
