Forklift Hire Leicester

Forklift hire in Leicester from £85 a week, with machines brought 23 miles up the M1 from our Midlands Service Centre at Rugby and looked after by the same team. The number to call is 01788 560 534.

Leicester forklift hire, a short run from Rugby

Reach trucks, Flexi articulated trucks, powered pallet trucks, stackers and counterbalance forklifts on electric, LPG or diesel are all available to Leicester sites on forklift truck hire from £85 a week, and access platforms and cleaning machines can join them. On 01788 560 534 you reach Rugby during office hours, 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and breakdowns after hours go to the emergency callout line, open 24/7. Say what the truck will carry, how high it stacks and when it should arrive, and we will reply with the machine type and the rate.

Paynes Lane to the centre of Leicester is about 23 miles, a little over half an hour: north on the A426 to junction 20 of the M1, then off at junction 21 and in along the Narborough Road. Our own vehicles carry each machine both ways, and collection is booked alongside the delivery.

Leicestershire sits inside the Rugby centre's patch with Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and the West Midlands, and Leicester is one of the nearest cities to the depot. The field engineers who deliver a Leicester hire are the same people who service it.

Forklifts for Leicester's factories and distribution parks

Leicester's industry ranges from food, packaging and printing to the textile and clothing trade the city grew on, much of it indoors on finished floors where electric counterbalance trucks and powered pallet trucks do the lifting. Builders' merchants, recycling and timber yards on the city's edges take diesel counterbalance trucks on pneumatic tyres, and LPG trucks cover sites that work across a yard and a shed in one shift.

Along the M1 and the M69, the distribution buildings around Enderby, Glenfield and Magna Park stack to height, which suits reach trucks. In a narrower aisle a Flexi articulated truck keeps working where a counterbalance would need room to turn, and the Rugby team can visit to measure up. Stackers handle goods-in and mezzanine stores in the smaller units.

Clamps, rotators and longer forks are fitted when a load calls for them, and an access platform or a cleaning machine can be dropped off in the same trip. A quote needs the heaviest load, the lift height and the floor or yard surface.

Leicester's estates, from Beaumont Leys to Magna Park

Beaumont Leys, on the north-west side of the city, holds a large spread of manufacturing and trade units, and the Troon Industrial Area and Thurmaston to the north-east carry on the city's food and textile work. Both sit close to the A46 and the A563 outer ring road.

To the south-west, by junction 21 of the M1, Grove Park at Enderby and Meridian Business Park at Braunstone mix offices with warehouses, and Optimus Point at Glenfield has added newer industrial space. Wigston, south of the city, has long-established industrial estates and trade units.

Further out, Magna Park near Lutterworth, at junction 20 of the M1, is a large distribution park on the road between Rugby and Leicester. Hinckley, Loughborough and Coalville are on the same Rugby runs.

Who keeps a Leicester hire running

Leicester hires get the same Rugby engineers who handle forklift servicing and repairs in Leicester, and nearly every visit is completed without the truck leaving your premises. We book the LOLER thorough examination too: at least every twelve months for a truck lifting loads, and every six where it lifts people. The hire fleet is CFTS accredited.

Leicester firms with trucks of their own carry the LOLER responsibility for them, and Rugby can take on the inspections, the paperwork and the diary. Traction batteries, chargers and replacement tyres come from the Rugby parts store and are fitted by the same engineers.

Training is there for any team that wants it: we run operator training on customers' sites, including your own Leicester premises, and at our RTITB accredited centres in Purfleet, Chatham and Portsmouth. Course lengths and prices are listed under forklift training in Leicester.

Side loader and multi-directional forklift training and powered pallet truck training are also offered on customers' own sites in Leicester.

Hire terms and prices

Hire runs from a single day through to long-term contract hire, from £85 a week. The rate moves with the machine, its lifting capacity and lift height, any attachments, and how long you keep it: longer hires cost less per week. Short-term hire covers a peak, a project or a truck off the road, and emergency hire is there for the day something has gone wrong.

Regular customers can put the machine, its servicing and its statutory inspections together as a contract, in one monthly payment with cover if the truck is off the road. Fleet management extends that across several sites.

If hire stops making sense, we sell new and used machines and take part exchange on your old truck, working or not. All prices are ex VAT.

Leicester's food and clothing businesses often add a truck for a seasonal peak or a large order, then send it back when the work eases. With Rugby so near, a hire of a week or two is simple to arrange.

Choosing hire over buying in Leicester means no capital outlay, servicing and breakdown repairs by us throughout, and a fleet that grows or shrinks with the season, which our article on hiring versus buying weighs up in full.

Rugby: the Midlands centre that serves Leicester

Our Midlands Service Centre is at Unit 15 Paynes Lane Industrial Estate, on the eastern side of Rugby, a short run from junction 18 of the M1 and junction 1 of the M6. It is one of Acclaim's eight regional centres, and Acclaim has kept its independence since it began in 1982, so we can put forward whichever truck fits a Leicester site. We are an exclusive dealer for STILL, Hyundai and Lonking, and we also supply Flexi articulated trucks, Genie access equipment and Kärcher cleaning machinery.

Alongside the forklifts, the centre carries hand pallet trucks, sack barrows, trolleys and powered stair climbers. Hiring, buying outright, whether new or used, and maintenance are all handled from the one building.

  • Independent since 1982
  • 8 UK service centres
  • 3,500 machines maintained
  • 92% of callouts fixed first time
  • Engineers averaging 10 years with us

    FAQ's

The run is about 23 miles, a little over half an hour by the A426 and the M1. Ring 01788 560 534 with your dates and the team will say what can be arranged, with every machine moved on our own transport.

Battery machines are the norm indoors: electric counterbalance trucks for loading and powered pallet trucks for moving stock along the floor. For racking above a few metres, a reach truck is the normal step up.

Yes. Magna Park, Grove Park and Meridian are all within easy reach of Rugby, and articulated trucks are worth a look where aisles have been narrowed to fit more pallets. Tell us the top beam height and the aisle width.

Yes. Leicestershire as a whole is worked from Rugby, so Hinckley, Loughborough, Coalville, Melton Mowbray and Market Harborough get the same team and number as the city.

Hire runs from a single day, with the minimum charge one week at the weekly rate. That suits a stock-take, a busy month or cover while one of your own trucks is repaired, and emergency hire handles the day one stops without warning.

We can. The duty belongs to whoever controls the equipment, and the Rugby engineers carry out thorough examinations on trucks you own as well as hired ones, issuing the report and keeping the schedule.
