Stoke-on-Trent forklift hire from Prescot

Counterbalance forklifts on diesel, LPG or electric, reach trucks, Flexi articulated trucks, powered pallet trucks and stackers can all come to Stoke-on-Trent on forklift truck hire from £85 a week, along with access platforms and cleaning machines. Ring 0151 294 3369 on a weekday between 8am and 5pm for Prescot; if a truck fails overnight or at the weekend, use the emergency number, staffed day and night. A short description of the work is enough for the team to recommend a truck.

Stoke-on-Trent is about 53 miles from Kitling Road by road, a little over an hour: the East Lancashire Road to the M6, south down the motorway and into the Potteries on the A500. Each machine travels on one of our own vehicles, and early notice lets us plan the run so the truck lands when the work begins.

The A500 runs through the middle of the city between junctions 15 and 16 of the M6, so most of the Potteries' estates are only a few minutes off the motorway. Collection is booked in the same call as the delivery.

Which forklift for work in the Potteries

Stoke-on-Trent's ceramics industry makes tableware, sanitaryware and tiles, and heavy, fragile pallets on finished floors suit electric counterbalance trucks and powered pallet trucks. Kiln yards, clay and aggregate storage and builders' merchants are outdoor work for diesel counterbalance trucks on pneumatic tyres, while LPG trucks move between yard and factory in one shift.

The distribution sheds at Trentham Lakes, along the A50 and up by the M6 work racked aisles to height, which calls for a reach truck. A Flexi articulated truck needs a much narrower aisle, and the Prescot team can go through a layout with you to see if it fits more pallets. Pallet stackers cover goods-in and the smaller stores.

Long or awkward loads may need heavy-duty forklifts or fork extensions, and access platforms and cleaning machines can share the delivery, which makes sense on a run of this length. For a quote, give us the heaviest load, its size, the lift height and the ground.

Stoke-on-Trent's industrial areas, from Etruria to Trentham Lakes

The city grew from six pottery towns, Tunstall, Burslem, Hanley, Stoke, Fenton and Longton, and each has its own factories and works. Etruria Valley and Festival Park, between Hanley and the A500, hold business, trade and industrial units close to the city centre.

To the south, Trentham Lakes and Sideway, beside the A50 and the A500, bring larger distribution and manufacturing buildings, and Longton and Fenton carry on the ceramics trade. North of Hanley, Tunstall and Burslem have older works alongside newer trade units.

Across the city boundary, Lymedale Business Park at Newcastle-under-Lyme sits near junction 15 of the M6. Kidsgrove, to the north, is served on the same runs.

Engineers, inspections and courses in the Potteries

Stoke-on-Trent hires are serviced by the engineers who carry out forklift servicing and repairs in Stoke-on-Trent; they are field based, and their stocked vans let most work finish on your floor. We book the LOLER thorough examination too: at least every twelve months for a truck lifting loads, and every six where it lifts people. The hire fleet is CFTS accredited.

Ceramic dust is hard on air filters, seals and brakes, so trucks in the factories are kept on a strict service schedule. Heavier repairs go to the Prescot workshop with transport arranged both ways, and traction batteries and tyres come from the parts store there.

Operator training is there if you want it: we run operator training at our centres and on customers' sites, and Stoke-on-Trent companies wanting a course at their own works will find the options on forklift training in Stoke-on-Trent.

Hire terms and prices

Hire runs from a single day through to long-term contract hire, from £85 a week. The rate moves with the machine, its lifting capacity and lift height, any attachments, and how long you keep it: longer hires cost less per week. Short-term hire covers a peak, a project or a truck off the road, and emergency hire is there for the day something has gone wrong.

Regular customers can put the machine, its servicing and its statutory inspections together as a contract, in one monthly payment with cover if the truck is off the road. Fleet management extends that across several sites.

If hire stops making sense, we sell new and used machines and take part exchange on your old truck, working or not. All prices are ex VAT.

Pottery firms often add a truck for a big order or a kiln rebuild, and distribution sites for a seasonal peak. Since each delivery comes down the M6 from Prescot, booking several machines together lets them share one transport run.

For a Stoke-on-Trent firm, hire spares the purchase cost and hands servicing and breakdown repairs to our engineers while the truck is with you, so machines can follow the order book; read whether to hire or buy a forklift for the detail.

Our Prescot depot and the Potteries

Our Liverpool Service Centre on Kitling Road, Prescot, a few minutes from junction 2 of the M57, is one of Acclaim's eight regional centres. Acclaim has worked in handling equipment since 1982 as an independent company, and that lets us suggest whichever truck suits a job in the Potteries. We are an exclusive dealer for STILL, Hyundai and Lonking, and we also supply Flexi articulated trucks, Genie access equipment and Kärcher cleaning machinery.

The Prescot engineers repair any make, and one team handles hire, sales, servicing and training. If a hired truck turns into a permanent need, new and used machines are on offer, with part exchange on an old one.

  • Independent since 1982
  • 8 UK service centres
