The RCD / RCG at a glance
The RCD and RCG are STILL’s entry-level counterbalance trucks: the RCD runs on diesel and the RCG on LPG. They handle containers, trailers and pallets, on ramps or on the flat, and suit occasional or single-shift work where the investment matters as much as the output. Every RCD and RCG we supply new meets Stage V, and every model drives through a torque converter.

Specification
Three sizes
- RCD / RCG 15, 18 and 20: 1,500, 1,800 and 2,000 kg at a 500 mm load centre, travelling at 17 km/h and turning in 2,160 to 2,200 mm.
- RCD / RCG 25, 30 and 35 Plus: 2,500, 3,000 and 3,500 kg, turning in 2,440 to 2,510 mm. The diesel Plus uses a 2.4 litre engine of 45 kW as standard.
- RCD / RCG 40 and 50: 4,000 and 5,000 kg, turning in 2,790 to 2,830 mm; the diesel RCD travels at up to 24 km/h laden.
Superelastic tyres are standard, with pneumatic tyres available on the smaller and larger sizes, and masts lift to 6 metres. Earlier 2.5 to 3.5 tonne trucks, before the Plus, turn in 2,440 to 2,540 mm and travel at 18 km/h.

Living with the particulate filter
The diesel trucks clean their exhaust with a particulate filter. On the 1.5 to 2 tonne trucks, regeneration runs automatically and can be forced by hand when the truck is stopped; a lamp shows the soot level in five steps. Low-load work, short runs and a lot of idling can stop the filter cleaning itself, so the pattern of use matters.
Checking a used RCD or RCG
Look for black smoke, leaks under the truck, tyre wear and fork arm damage, and check that the chains are evenly taut and the fuel filter water trap has been drained. The overhead guard should show no deformation beyond 20 mm. Service is due every 500 hours, with longer checks at 1,000 and 3,000 hours, so ask for the service record. Every used RCD and RCG is inspected by our engineers before it is sold.
